Pentax is pleased to announce the Pentax Optio Z10, a compact digital camera equipped with a high-magnification 7X optical zoom lens that is convenient for various photography scenes. The Pentax Z10 is equipped with 7X optical zoom lens, the highest magnification among current Pentax compact digital camera models, built in a small and lightweight body of easy mobility. In addition, the Pentax Optio Z10 has a high resolution of 8.0 effective Megapixels, and features shake reduction that allows stress-free telephoto photography, and face recognition with high-speed detection time. Pentax Imaging Company has opened the doors of the “Pentax Photo Gallery” to give Pentax digital camera shooters around the world the opportunity to be represented in the gallery and share their most defining moments of photography. This virtual Photo Gallery is the first of its kind to offer space for passionate Pentax photographers to exhibit their work, share and gain resources within an artistic community, create an online portfolio, and more. “For decades, Pentax collected the best images captured with our cameras and published the work annually in an historical, coffee table-type, book collection,” said Ned Bunnell, Vice President Marketing, Pentax Imaging Company.

Pentax K100D Super facts

The new Pentax K100D Super digital SLR camera is equipped with the Pentax original Shake Reduction (SR) system to reduce camera shake for sharp, blur-free images even under demanding shooting conditions such as when using a telephoto lens or when shooting in low light without a flash. The SR mechanism is designed to minimize camera shake by oscillating the CCD image sensor vertically and horizontally at high speed using magnetic force, while adjusting the speed of oscillation in proportion to the amount of camera shake detected by a built-in sensor. As a result, the Pentax K100D Super SLR gives the equivalent to approximately 2 to 3.5 shutter steps of compensation.

Pentax adds Face Recognition AF & AE technology to the Optio E40 to automatically detect and focus on faces, regardless of where the people appear in the photo frame.
